FAQs

FAQs

How long does the class last?

The class will last for 40 minutes but during this time there will be periods of free play and a variety of fast paced structured activities. There will also be time to explore the library and choose a game or book to borrow.

Are parents required to stay?

Yes, Totting Up encourages interaction and conversation between the child and the adult throughout the session. This could be mum, dad, carer, grandparent or childminder. This will support your child’s development both mathematically and socially.

Is it possible to hold children’s attention at such a young age?

With over 10 years experience as a primary school teacher, including the Foundation Stage, I know how to hold children’s attention through short interactive activities and exciting resources. The main aim of the session is to have fun and enjoy ourselves while learning.

Can I come and try a session first?

You are welcome to attend a one off free trial session before committing to a half term block.

How much do the classes cost?

The classes cost £5 each when booked in half-termly blocks. These term dates will fit in with local school dates. If you are joining part way through a block, the price will be based on the number of sessions remaining (£5/session). If you prefer to pay as you go the price is £6 per session, please book a space at least 24 hours in advance to avoid disappointment. Spaces are subject to availability. We are happy to accept cash or a cheque if you prefer this to an online payment.

What does my child need to bring?

Nothing! They are very welcome to bring a favourite toy or comforter and should wear comfortable clothes. There may be some occasions when we might get messy but we will warn you in advance if messy clothes are required.
