Our classes cater for two age groups:
* aged 2-3
* aged 3-4
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes. In Totting Up we cover all the Mathematics Early Years Foundation stage outcomes as well as outcomes in Personal, Social and Emotional development, Communication and Language, Physical development, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.
Each session will be in four parts:
1. Welcome and free play
As you arrive children will be able to choose from a range of games and activities to build confidence at the beginning of the session and give adults and children a chance to socialise.
2. Circle time part 1
Let’s get going! Adults and children will come to the mats for our warm up song followed by 20 minutes of themed activities, songs and games.
3. Free play
Time for a break. Children will have a chance to stretch their legs and revisit the mathematical themed games and activities on offer.
4. Circle time part 2
A second opportunity to further develop the theme for the week through fun engaging activities before the session ends with our goodbye song. After the session, children will be able to choose from a selection of maths games and stories to borrow from our maths library.
We’ll even provide a healthy drink and snack!
